Improving the Flow of Jobs @Heeter

Did you know Heeter operates over 80,000 square feet of print, specialty finish, mail and fulfillment space?

We have two main facilities, located within a half mile of one another, in one of Western Pennsylvania’s premier and fastest growing industrial parks.

Can we do it better?

Our new VP of Operations Kirk Schlecker wondered recently if we had the various departments organized across the two facilities in the most efficient way. After a review, we realized we could improve our flow by making some adjustments.

We just finished the move in the last couple of weeks, and we want to let you know of the improvements.

  •  All digital printing is now located in our fulfillment facility.
  •  Mailing has also been largely relocated in this fulfillment facility to speed the mailing of the variable projects
  •  All finishing is now located in our main facility – next to the Heidelberg presses.

Better visibility of jobs on the floor

We have made improvements to both the physical and computer visibility of your projects.

We set up an elevated office for the Plant Manager and Scheduler to have a view of the main facility floor. They also have a real-time digital view of the jobs on monitors.

What does this mean to our customers?

By having more of the complimentary processes located under the same roof, we are seeing:

  • Faster turnaround of jobs
  • Higher percentage of “on time” deliveries

We expect over time that we can reduce our production costs with these moves as well, allowing us to continue to provide more value and tighter bids to our customers.

We are very proud of our facilities and would love to show you them in person. If you’d like to schedule a tour, shoot me an email or give me a call at 724-746-8900.
